Peace Walk in Richmond: GRTC Service Impacts and Detours

Buddhist monks will continue a Peace Walk through Richmond on Monday and Tuesday. GRTC will implement temporary service adjustments to accommodate pedestrian safety.

On Monday, the walk will enter Richmond from Chesterfield County via Richmond Highway between approximately 8:30 and 9:00am, with rolling delays expected along Richmond Highway and Semmes Avenue.

GRTC buses will continue to access 9th Street from Broad Street until approximately 2:30pm. After that time, 9th Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic until the event concludes, and affected routes will be detoured.

Around 4:30pm, the walk will depart City Hall and travel westbound on Broad Street through Downtown and the VCU area. Delays and rolling detours are expected during this time.

The walk will continue to Virginia Union University, where the group will remain overnight. On Tuesday morning, the walk will depart VUU between 6:30 and 7:00am and travel northbound on Brook Road toward Azalea Avenue, with morning delays expected.

Riders should plan for delays and allow extra travel time.
