GRTC News

This October, GRTC will launch a new LINK zone on Richmond’s Southside, expanding flexible, on-demand transit to more neighbors and destinations. Service will run Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This new zone will connect riders to key community destinations, including:

  • Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center
  • Southside Plaza
  • Sitter and Barefoot Veterans Care Center
  • Broad Rock Elementary and Thomas C. Bushall Middle School
  • Parnell and Broad Rock Industrial Areas
  • Amazon Fulfillment Center
  • Philip Morris USA
  • Big Apple Supermarket

As part of this change, Route 88 will be retired in 2026, with LINK covering the full service area while keeping riders connected to jobs, healthcare, schools, and shopping.

This Southside zone is the latest step in GRTC’s LINK growth:

  • In Powhatan County, LINK expanded to cover the entire county — our largest zone yet at 252 square miles — with access to Chesterfield Towne Center and Westchester Commons.
  • In Sandston, LINK added six and a half square miles, bringing coverage to Fulton, Marion Hill, Rocketts Landing, White Oak Village, and nearby schools — preparing for the retirement of Route 56 on Oct. 18.

LINK offers curb to curb shared rides within designated zones that are zero fare. Riders can book trips through the GRTC On the Go app or by calling (804) 358 GRTC.

More coverage. More destinations. Your ride, your way.
