Richmond Folk Festival Service Impacts | October 9 – 11

GRTC riders should expect service impacts in downtown Richmond during the 2026 Richmond Folk Festival from Friday, October 9 at 12 p.m. through Sunday, October 11 at 11:59 p.m.

Street closures around Brown’s Island and the festival area include:

  • 2nd Street/Lee Bridge off-ramp to Byrd Street
  • Byrd Street between 2nd and 7th streets
  • 3rd and 4th streets between Canal and Byrd streets
  • 5th Street between Canal and Tredegar streets

Route 87 will be detoured around the festival area during these closures. Riders should also expect heavy traffic and pedestrian activity along Canal Street, which may cause additional delays.

Riders are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use the Transit app for real-time bus information and trip planning.
