Destination Signs Are Getting Streamlined

You shared your feedback, and we listened. We’re updating the destination signs on our buses to make them easier to read and understand.

The new sign layout highlights the key corridors each route serves and keeps the route number and direction visible at all times.

How to Read the New Destination Sign

The Three Parts of the Destination Sign

  1. Route: Each bus route is identified by a unique route number.
  2. Direction: Shows which direction the bus is traveling. Routes run north-south or east-west.
  3. Key Corridors: Major streets or areas served by the route.

Benefits of the New Destination Signs

  • Familiar route descriptions: Signs will highlight the major corridors each route travels through, listed in the order they are served.
  • Faster information: Signs will rotate through no more than two screens, making route information easy to read at a glance as the bus approaches your stop.
  • Greater confidence: Route numbers and travel direction will always be visible, helping riders quickly confirm they are boarding the correct bus.
  • Improved consistency: All signs will use uppercase lettering for a uniform appearance.

What’s Different?

Our current destination signs use a mix of upper- and lowercase lettering, may not include all key corridors, and can cycle through as many as three screens to describe a route. The new signs provide more complete route information in a simpler format and clearly display the route’s direction of travel at all times.
