CARE


Care VanCARE's Purpose

GRTC Transit System’s CARE service provides curb-to-curb Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit services to citizens of the Richmond Region. CARE provides public transportation access to individuals with disabilities who may not be reasonably able to use GRTC fixed route bus service.

CARE service is available in the City of Richmond,  Henrico County, and portions of Chesterfield County .   CARE operates daily from 4:30 am – 12:30 am in Richmond and from 6 am – 11:00 pm in Henrico County .

Paratransit Fare

Specialized Transportation fare is $2.50 per one-way trip. Go Cards or cash cannot be accepted for transport on CARE vans. For your convenience, specialized transportation tickets are sold in books of six (6) and ten (10). A ticket book of 6 costs $15.00. A ticket book of 10 costs $25.00. Tickets may be purchased from select GRTC ticket outlets, or by mail. Call 358-GRTC for information about mail order and ticket outlet locations. CARE ticket books cannot be purchased at GRTC Headquarters.

 

Discount Bus Fare

Go Cards Your CARE identification card entitles you to reduced fare of 75¢ on most GRTC routes. The fare may be paid in cash or by using a Go Card. Go Cards can be purchased in $5.00, $10.00 and $25.00 denominations at over 130 retail locations across Richmond . Reduced fare is not available on express routes or the 19 Pemberton. The entire fleet of GRTC vehicles is equipped with wheelchair lifts, and each operator is prepared to provide immediate assistance to elderly and disabled customers who require it. CARE personnel are available to assist customers with scheduling, resolving problems, and providing information about the service.
